TIPPMANN TECH CENTRE..... YES PLEASE!

It's official! Battle Grounds Paintball is the first and only certified Tippmann Tech Dealer and Warranty Centre in Scotland. This means no matter how old the marker or where you bought it from you can guarantee Battle Grounds Paintball Aberdeen can help you keep your baby in tip top shape!

Travelling over 1,500 miles return last week saw Gilan and Hollie head to the Tippmann Challenge held this year at Holmbush Farm, Crawley. For those of you who have yet to experience a full on paintball festival the Tippmann Challenge is ranked amongst the big guns like the Warped Big Game thanks to the multitude of activities and trade stands the organisers pull off each year.

The duo spent the day tearing apart the full range of Tippmann markers getting to grips with the likes of the new model A5, TiPX, Custom Ultra 98 and of course the Phenom leaving with some of the first markers to stock up our brand new paintball shop which will be unvelied later this year!

Next on the cards tech wise is of course the full BT range swiftly followed by all those shiney shiney markers we know and love.....

The team are also considering opening an online shop.... let us know what you think!

The harder the battle the sweeter the victory!

Well boys and girls it's frankly been farrrrr too long since our last Battle Grounds blog and we need to start out with an apology for being so rubbish at keeping all you folks up to date on paintball in Aberdeen.

Over the next few weeks we will really be stepping things up a notch and will have some exciting new announcements to make so watch this space.....

In the meantime, to wet your appetites I thought I'd post up some pics of the site taken during the Crusade on 12th June. Have to say that the day was an astounding success with some epic fire fights spread across most of the site and over 120,000 paintballs shot in the space of just 6 hours!!! Check out the pics below and WATCH THIS SPACE!!

I'll Sleep When I'm Dead!

Well it's been far too long since our last blog... incase you didn't all guess it's because we literally have been run off our feet although, fear not!, we have made some big steps on site over the last couple of weeks and it's finally starting to shape up!

So what the hell have we been up to I hear you ask?! Well the week of the 23rd saw Battle Grounds Paintball taken over with school groups for activities week with over 300 kids through our doors in a matter of days. Lots of great action on the field including some pretty intense battles between watch towers in the village made for a crazy few days - great to see so many teachers having a blast too! Oh and how could I forget the miles of ducktape!

This month also marked the start of our U-18's Paintball Club Sessions which run every second Wednesday night from 6-8.30pm. Using a combination of Tippmann 98's, A5's, Tippman X7's and BT Delta 4's the boys ripped it up proving that age and experience don't count for much when you've got a bit of enthusiasm and no fear! Next session should be a blast on Wednesday 8th June with new game fields to be unveiled!

Then of course there was the weekend of the 28th/29th.... possibly the wildest weekend BG has been witness to so far since moving to our site at Banchory. Six different stag groups, one hennie, two birthday groups.... 90 smoke grenades and 37 flash bangs..... and that was just the Saturday! The pics look great so take a minute to check them out here :

So what about the site? Well Aberdeen Fusion have been out a couple of times lining drainage ditches across the brand new Tournament Paintball Field, Aberdeen University Paintball Society players have been out doing the same and are set to work three days straight over the coming week finishing this mammoth task off! On top of that we have had plenty of help from the regulars, Craig and Stu deserving a special mention, and now have a chinook helicopter which is very near to completion not to mention the fact that the safety zone now has a beautiful (big) new roof! Thanks are also due to Holls who has worked real hard shifting stones, mud and wood and got her green fingers out with the plants popping up all of the site - we even let her use a nail gun!!

Our marshalls are doing an excellent job and we finally have a fantastic team of guys working regularly for us - Martin, JC, Dean, Ian and Ross you do us proud!

Well folks with only one week to go until "The Crusade" I reckon we need to get back on site and crack-on! Will try and keep you all more updated now that the schools are out of the way .... holiday anyone?!

A New Era Begins at Battle Grounds ...

What a couple of mad weekends it's been! Some brilliant groups took full advantage of the four new watch towers as "The Village" stole the show over both days.... Saturday saw many of our Groupon customers take advantage of superb value balling whilst Sunday entertained an enthsiastic group from La Bamba and Prime Cuts Restaurants in Aberdeen. Birthday's and stag-doo's galore also saw lots of people, including the boss himself, running the gauntlet for their birthday run with plenty of bruises to show for it!

Congrats to all those who played at BG over the last couple of weekends - you made it an awesome two weeks!

Meanwhile.... we have been super busy working on our King of the Hill and Chinook game zones with pallets of wood arriving on site last week. The safety zone posts are in and the walls and roof are all set to go on over the next couple of days. Longer evenings and sunny days are transforming the site into something a little bit special and, with the help of our fantastic new team of marshalls, the site is coming to life for the first time in a very, very long time!

April is going to be off-the-charts busy and we are all really excited to hear your opinions as we continue to work our BG magic on the place. Watch this space for news on Sup Air Walk-On days coming soon to Battle Grounds Paintball and for more updates on our progress! Pictures to be unveiled soon of our new game zones.

Oh - almost forgot - the compressor arrived today folks... say hello to steady 4.5k fills :)

Tournament Paintball @ BG - Introducing Aberdeen Fusion

As many of you will know Battle Grounds Paintball Aberdeen is home to Aberdeen Fusion - soon to be one of Scotland's top tournament paintball teams playing on soon-to-be one of Scotland's top tournament paintball sites! For an inside peak into the dark world of tournament paintball we've managed to get the lads to write a blog for us. Enjoy!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Started in September 2010 by friends and fellow players formally of East Coast NV (winners of almost every piece of paintball silverware in the Scotland), Aberdeen Fusion are set to have a busy, hopefully very fruitful 2011. Led by Liam Philbey, built with the aid of Ross Thompson, DJ "Ditch-Jockey" Forbes and Rosser "Africa" Barnett the current line up includes:

Lee "Colgate" Kiloh
Rory "Rosy" Thomson
Kyle "Soleice" Glass
Liam "Napper" Turner
Steve "Cheungy" Cheung
Gavin Burnett
Lewis Fromholc
Jamie Campbell
Scott Mckechnie
Grant Ryrie
Craig Robertson
Guillaume Boyer

Playing in the English series of the CPPS (The Central Paintball Players Series) in 2011 the team have gained sponsorship for kit through Laysick Paintball / Kartel Prime providing the team with custom playing jerseys along with training tops from CustomPB, a fresh new company based in England. Last but not least, Battle Grounds Paintball, home to East Coast NV for several years,  have provided the team with somewhere to play and train whilst keeping us stocked up with paint for training and tournaments. Without them it would be absolutely impossible. BG are also providing us with a new shiney place to call home very shortly :)

With a slow start to the seasons training thanks to snow on an epic scale - the teams training has recently stepped up a notch with trips to a few reball sessions, Lossiemouth RAF and Terminator Paintball to play Shadow Faction. After a few more grind sessions on Battle Grounds brand new tournament paintball field the team were ready to hit the first round of the CPPS. Entering two teams, one into the Conference division and one into the Championship Divison, both teams rocked on the day finishing in an awesome position to move up into pole positions over the remaining 5 rounds throughout the year.
With the team looking forward to an epic grind at Battle Grounds and hopefully some silverware this season, we would like to give a massive thanks to :-

Gilan and Hollie at Battlegrounds Paintball
Kent at CustomPB
James at Kartel Prime

Without their help it would have been impossible to have taken the team this far, or to even think about challenging the current teams of the UK Paintball Scene.
If your interested in playing tournament paintball why not come along to one of the Sup Air walk-on days or get in contact with the team! We'll be aiming to post some hints and tips on how to improve your game over the coming months so....

For Those Ready To Rock...We Salute You.

As it says in the title, we Salute you...

This blog is for every person who has stepped up to the strenuous tasks we at Battlegrounds Paintball have put in front of you and for all the blood, sweat and tears that have followed. If your reading this from an outside view - trust me there have been bucket loads of all three!

As our players come from all walks of life so do our meticulous volunteers to mention a few in no particular order:

Stewart and Robin - SCL Landscapes
Craig and Chris - M & H Carriers
Various Students - Aberdeen University Paintball Society
Family and friends of which there are too many for my fingers to type!!

Although we have received a lot of support on site there have been some people behind the scenes who have also provided invaluable support and advice over the past year including but not limiting

Jamie and Alex Burnett - Leys Estate Banchory
David Smart and Robyn Maitland - Strutt and Parker - Banchory
Mike and Irene Foster - Airphone UK - Ireland

We look forward to providing Aberdeen and Scotland with the first class paintball venue our Customers are used to in 2011 and years to come!

~ The only thing that overcomes hard luck is hard work. ~

Today "Mike" arrived.

This marks the start of a complete transfromation of the old Skirmish Aberdeen safety area into a rocking
BG hive like you have all come to expect. The next few days will also see a BRAND NEW GAME ZONE take shape in the form of a Sup Air Field complete with over 40 bunkers  (which look like chunks from a bouncy castle!). We will try and keep you all up to date with pics as we go and may even put a cheeky little site map up for you too :)

Thanks to all the regulars who attended our first Walk-On of 2011 on Sunday. Great to catch-up with everybody and get all your thoughts on the game zones so far (If you have any more just let us know). We can't wait to hear your thoughts on the safe zone as it develops in weeks to come.

It's great to see Paintball in Aberdeen growing again after a real lull last year. Let's make this year a great one!

Scottish University Paintball

No such thing as a dull day since we have been back in action and today was no exception! Up at the crack of dawn preparing for another busy weekend at the site, made especially busy as we headed to Stirling University today!

The usual suspects from Aberdeen University Paintball Society (AUPS) accompanied us to the first Scottish University Paintball Conference, hosted by Stirling University Paintball Society (SUPS). Although the first meeting of it's kind it proved to be a fruitful one (despite the lack of reps from Dundee University Paintball Society and Edinburgh University Paintball Society) with the first two trial tournament dates confirmed for the 26th of Feb (to be held at either A1 Paintball or Terminator Paintball) and the 17th of April ( to be held at our very own Battle Grounds Paintball Aberdeen).

With so many new faces creeping onto the tournament paintball scene this year is set to be an exciting one! Couple this with the installation of fantastic quality tournament fields at BG and you'd have to be nuts not to want a slice of the action.

Watch this space for updates and pics of the Scottish University Paintball League in months to come!

The most fun you'll have in the woods with your clothes on.... ;)

Another awesome group visited Battle Grounds Paintball Aberdeen today in the shape of a bunch of lively boys and girls from Aberdeen College! Although the weather wasn't all that great the paintballs were flying and the banter was flowing. The village saw it's first full action game since the construction of the church (although the church bell is yet to come) and more ideas were chucked into the melting pot for "The Graveyard". We took delivery of a new batch of 3 minute burn smoke grenades which really did bring the game zones to life.

This next weekend is set to be a busy one.... a couple of groups out on Saturday and, of course, our monthly walk-on on Sunday. We are ready to rock with a fresh order of paint winging it's way to us and yet more plans in the pipeline! Time is really starting to crack on and as such - if you want to have your say about how the game zones are developed pipe up now (or at least very soon!).

Battle Grounds Paintball Aberdeen also had a couple of very exciting meetings today regarding some sup-air walk-on's hosted by our resident tournament paintball team Aberdeen Fusion and about a potential online offer. Watch this space for more news on these!

G out!

Sunday 23 January 2011

The Skirmish is over but the Battle Grounds has just begun!

So... after a long 9 months searching Battle Grounds finally cracked it! We have just celebrated our second month in business at our brand new site, and boy have we been busy. This weekend saw the completion of new buldings in "The Village", erection of yet another new watch-tower and potentially the last couple of games the old Skirmish safe zone will see. Plans over the next two weeks include a complete rebuild of the safety area injecting a little of the good old Battle Grounds magic into the new site.

This weekend has also been one of the first without any sign of snow on the ground :) Three groups enjoyed dry coveralls, fog-free masks and cosy toes! This type of weather really reminds us all here at BG of the summer to come and has most definately got us planning yet more improvements and new additions.

Keep your eyes peeled as we will attempt to keep you all up to date on progress, special offers and any exciting news over the coming months.
